Back in 2001, VW showed a conept version of a new microbus. Word is, nothing this cool is ever going to be produced, but apparently a deal was worked out to create a new minivan on a Chrysler platform. Details are scarce.
Hey VW, why not communicate with your audience a bit and let us know the plans. Is there a release date? Has it been cancelled? Why give customers the silent treatment?

I was involved with that at the time. It wasn’t killed, but after the introduction of the phaeton and the touareg, it was… re-considered. Last I heard it was still on the list of possibilities, but given their recent re-introduction woes, I’d say we are looking at another 3-4 years.
Thanks for the info. I’ve sat in dealerships trying to get the straight dope from someone, but I think they honestly don’t know. They know they haven’t been able to order any so it is not “next year” but they don’t know if it might be soon. Meanwhile my kids are growing up. I’ve been debating buying an (expensive) used Eurovan (or trying to import a new one) or just come to terms with a regular minivan.
There is a great opportunity for someone to make a “different” kind of minivan for aging hipsters who don’t want a minivan in their life.
